SYRACUSE -- LaMar Richard Hamblin, 75 passed away at his home Sunday, September 4.

He was born September 13, 1929 in Clearfield, Utah, the son of Richard Henry and Hazel Thurgood Hamblin.

He married Melissa Arlene Craig on March 4, 1948 in Lawton, Oklahoma; the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in June of 1962. They are the parents of six children, Michael (Shelly) Hamblin, Jenny (David) Hawks (serving an LDS Mission in England), David (Diana) Hamblin, Steven (Jan) Hamblin, Robert (Stephanie) Hamblin, Tim (Heather) Hamblin; 24 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Fern Graham, Clearfield; Lorna Leholm, Layton; Mern Gailey, Kaysville; and Frankie Barkdull, Sacramento, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, two sisters and a great-grandson; four sisters, Fern Graham, Clearfield; Lorna Leholm, Layton; Mern Gailey, Kaysville, and Frankie Barkdull. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, two sisters and a great-grandson.

LaMar worked at Hill Air Force Base for many years, but will be remembered most for his "green chili" that so many people looked forward to and traveled many miles to purchase.

He loved to hunt and fish with his family. In his last years he had a favorite fishing buddy, Ken Porter. They spent quality time up East Canyon wetting worms.

He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing to his grandchildren, visiting the homebound in nursing homes and sharing his music with them. Growing plants in his greenhouse and beautifying his yard was his passion. Just this summer he planted over 500 geraniums and hundreds of marigolds and petunias which he grew from seed. He will also be remembered as a loving husband, father, a hard worker and good neighbor.

LaMar was active in the Syracuse First Ward and the Meadows Ward, serving as a Scout Leader, High Priest and Home Teacher for many years. He served a mission with his wife, Arlene in the Vancouver-British Columbia Mission in Surrey.

Special thanks to Dr. Richard Frame and his staff for their excellent care, love and compassion. Thanks also to Hospice workers, Brenda, Queenie, Jennifer and Amber.
