Christian served as a Sergeant & Radio Operator on B-24J #44-40536, 23rd Bomber Squadron, 5th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Merrimack County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on July 6, 1943 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Farm Hand and also as Single, without dependents.

B-24J #44-40536 took off from Morotai Island on a bombing mission over Labuan, Borneo. After a successful bombing mission they were last seen entering a cloud at about 8000 feet. The are believed to have crashed into the sea due to bad weather in the area during the war.

Christian was declared "Missing In Action" in this B-24's disappearance during the war.

He was awarded an Air Medal and a Purple Heart.
