Elbert W. Huff, 1940 East Roosevelt street, and Jack D. Barrett, 1210 East Van Buren street, will be sent to Fort Bliss, Tex., this morning for enlistment in the U.S. Army, Sgt. Glen R. Elbert W. Huff (1917) reenlisted for another three years in the U.S. Army Air Corps on 18 June 1941 at Fort Winfield Scott, California. He was single and had completed 1 year of high school.
He was assigned to the 7th Material Squadron, 5th Air Base Group and sent to the Philippines where he was captured by the Japanese.
Bilibid Prison Record - 9-6-42: HUFF, Elbert W., Private First Class, U.S. Army, ASN: 6268771, died at 0500 this date. Cause of death: Dysentery, amebic. Buried in hospital plot, row three, grave seven.

Elbert was buried in the Bilibid Prison hospital cemetery – Row 3, Grave 7. After the war his remains were disinterred and brought to 7747 USAF Cemetery, Manila #2, Philippine Islands where they were reburied on 13 June 1945 – Block 1, Row 14, Grave 1777, (D-D No. 6980). The deceased in Manila #2 (over 11,000 American soldiers) rested there until their removal to the American Graves Registration Service Manila Mausoleum in the summer of 1948. From there, according to the wishes of his next of kin (father, Mr. James H. Huff), Corporal Elbert Woodrow Huff's remains were buried in his final resting place in the Manila American Cemetery – Plot C, Row 9, Grave 85.

WASHINGTON, Oct. 30. – (AP) – The death in a Japanese prison camp of Cpl. Elbert W. Huff, son of James Henry Huff, Flagstaff, Ariz., was reported today by the war department. The location of the camp in which Huff had been detained was not given. Notification was received from Japan through the prisoners' agency of the Red Cross.
