Member of the crew of the "Lucky Strike" B24 of the 23rd Bomber Squadron 5th Bomber Group that was shot down over Borneo and died there along with Thomas Coberly, Pilot; 2Lt Jerome (Jerry) Rosenthal, Co-Pilot and 2Lt Frederick H Brennan, Jr, Navigator.
The rest of the crew was rescued by the native Dayak people and the story is detailed in the book:
