Ture, having gone missing on the above date, was not officially declared as being dead by the military until January 14, 1946.
Ture served as a Staff Sergeant and Gunner on B-17E "Craps For The Japs" (#41-2653), 65th Bomber Squadron, 43rd Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
He resided in Richmond County, New York prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army on March 16, 1942 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Decorator and/or window dresser and also as being Single, without dependents.
Ture was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-17 did not return on a bombing mission to Cape Gloucester Airfield (Tuluvu) during the war. A group of twelve B-17 were on this mission and they were intercepted by Japanese Fighters and it is believed that his B-17 was shot down by them and crashed into the sea.
He and was awarded an Air Medal and a Purple Heart.
