KILLED -- Second Lt. Eugene Cantrell of Etowah, Tenn., previously reported missing, was recently declared killed in action over Zeitz, Germany. His wife, Mrs. Delsie Hicks Cantrell of Etowah, will be given his Purple Heart medal. He is the son of Mrs. Fannie Cantrell, also of Etowah. He had been overseas since last May and had been presented the Air Medal and two oak leaf clusters. He attended McMinn High School and University of Tennessee.
Second Lieutenant, 412nd Bomber Squadron, 95th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces. Entered the service from Tennessee. Awarded the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart.
