Technical Sergeant John Philip Prasch, born 10 Jun 1920, was the only son of Francis "Frank" Timothy Prasch and Ellen "Nellie" (Towhey) Prasch of Chicago, Illinois.

In the 1930 census 9-year-old John is living with his parents and sisters Margaret 12, Genevieve 4, and Frances 2, at 904 N Lawler Avenue in Chicago. His father is a route salesman for a dairy.

In the 1940 census 19-year-old John is living with his parents and sisters Margaret 22, Genevieve 14, and Frances 12, at 4818 W Rice Street in Chicago. His father is still a salesman for the dairy. Sister Margaret is a laboratory worker for a cosmetics manufacturer.

John married Rita Joan Hickey on 30 Sep 1943 in Cook County, Illinois.

Sgt Prasch was the top turret gunner on B-17 42-31160 piloted by Lt. Edward Kaffun and based out of RAF Rattlesden, 72 miles northeast of London.

The NARA WWII casualty listings by state and county show Prasch, John P, 36609583, T Sgt from Cook County, Illinois, as killed in action. On a mission to Ardouval and Marquenville on 13 Feb 1944 a flak burst broke off the tail, crashed at Rambures, 17 miles northwest of Poix. Only the tail gunner, Ken McIntyre, survived and became a prisoner of war. MACR 2532
