The son of Beatrice Osborn, this young combat medic from Poquonock, Connecticut, was drafted and enlisted on 27 April 1943. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion of the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st infantry Division ("Big Red One"), which spearheaded the assault on Omaha Beach on 6 June 1944. Bravely risking his own life to save wounded comrades from bleeding to death on the beach, he was killed in action. For his heroic achievement, he was posthumously awarded a Bronze Star. May his sacrifice be remembered.
