An Almedia soldier, Pvt. William
E. Mensch, lost his life in the in-
vasion of France on D-day, his
mother, Mrs. Florence Mensch, was
advised by telegram yesterday. The
War Department telegram stated
that the 24-year-old soldier was
killed in action in France on June
6, the date of the invasion. He
was in an amphibious tank outfit.
The last letter to his family was
received Tuesday, under postmark
of May 28, and in it he stated he
was anxious to get home to take a
good rest. He was the son of the
late William Mensch, a veteran of
World War I. The family resided
in Bloomsburg for some years be-
fore removing to Almedia.
