Private Oscar B. Leslie, was born to James and Alice Leslie, in Jefferson, Alabama, 1912. He married Dorothy Colsman, February 5, 1936.

Oscar enlisted in the Army at Fort McClellan, Alabama, October 9, 1943, serial number 34816801, a skilled Miner and machine operator.

Was arrested for "driving while intoxicated/reckless driving" on 9/18/1939. Did four days in jail and paid a fine of $2.50.

He completed training and was sent to England to participate in operation "Overlord", assigned to the 8th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, nicknamed "IVY", Oscar would participate in the D-Day landing at Utah Beach and join the paratroopers who were dropped in behind enemy lines the night before.

Oscar survived the D-Day landing as the 4th Division captures Utah Beach rather easily but later is killed in action as the 4th Division participates in the conquest of the Cotentin Peninsula and pushes towards Cherbourg. The 4th is the first American Division to reach Paris and later participates in the Battle of the Bulge. Sadly. Oscar did not get to witness this.
