Wilburn R. Harkins, US Army, sn: 18003844. Sgt. Harkins was the son of Silas G. Harkins of Hugo, Oklahoma. He enlisted in the Army in 1940. His wife (Edith) lived in Dallas, Texas at one time. Another article refers to his wife as Dorthia (photo). Prior to enlisting in the Army he attended Soper School in Choctaw County, and worked in a peanut plant (factory) in Hugo, Oklahoma. He is listed on the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma's website, on a page honoring warriors of their tribe who died in World War II. His death was reported in the August 20, 1944, edition of The Oklahoman newspaper. In May 2011, Sgt. Harkins' brother Jim Harkins-91 was living in Wheatland, Oklahoma, as was his nephew, Bill Harkins.
