He resided in Illinois prior to the war.

Raymond was "Killed In Action" when his B-24, while over their target at the German airfield at Roye-Amy, France, was hit by enemy flak causing the B-24 to catch fire and crash during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart.
