Carman arrived in Vietnam and was assigned to Foxtrot Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division.
He was killed by small arms fire at Hill 778, about 12 kilometers West Northwest of Khe Sanh, during Operation Beacon Star.
He was single.
Survived by his parents, Johnie and Vivian Carmack and family members.
