Oldest of 9 children of William M. and Serena Susan Sutton Wallen. Married Sarah Frances Davis on May 23, 1900. Oliver was a Farmer, Baptist Preacher and School Teacher. He and family members left Kentucky for Texas in 1905 with hope that the drier climate of Texas would be a cure for his and his brother, Jesse Uriah's, Tuberculosis. He died of the disease two years later, leaving his wife and five children: William Jesse, Sula Susan, Thomas Miller, Charles Homer and James Hobart.

Educated at Georgetown College, Kentucky.

Religion: Missionary Baptist

Oliver was a Mason..Ashland Lodge #640 Mt. Vernon, KY

In March of 1901 Oliver was appointed guardian of his wife's half siblings, the Burnette children, Cordelia, Cora, Hobart and Sula.

Oliver left a detailed diary of his daily life.
