Son of Claude Robert Edmund and Mary Bradley of 15 Elizabeth Street, Launceston, Tasmania. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 20 August 1914 and embarked from Hobart for overseas on 20 October 1914 aboard HMAT "Geelong" (A2). He was reported missing in action but later confirmed as being killed in action. He was on observation duty when he was shot by a sniper. He was 19 years of age. He was buried at the rear of the Tasmania Post, Anzac. His body was later exhumed from its temporary grave and re-interred in the Shell Green Cemetery.
