Entered service, February 15, 1943, from Philadelphia, PA. It is believed he became a naturalized citizen while at Camp Wheeler, Ga, May 31, 1943. He attended OCS and commissioned, 2nd Lieutenant. He was assigned to the, 116th Reconnaissance Squadron, 101st Cavalry Group.

The 101st Cavalry Group shipped out for Europe, October 31, 1944, from New York Harbor, docking in Liverpool, England, November 13, 1944. In January 1945 the Group landed in France and began combat operations, February 9, 1945.

February 25, 1945, he was killed in action, by artillery fire, along with 1st Lieutenant Robert K, Schafer, 2nd Lieutenant Charles N Pierce and Sergeant Walter Mennel.
