On April 26, 1945, 1LT Allen left Gresseste L.G., Italy on a mission to Lake Garda, Italy. According to a Witness's Statement filed by 1LT Bradley A Muhl, he reported that he saw Allen's plane pull off to the left, over the lake and then his fuselage burst into flames. His (Allen's) canopy jettisoned, the plane went into a steep spiral straight into the lake. He did not see a parachute open and saw no movement indicating survival.
