Andrew served as a Technical Sergeant & Right Waist Gunner on B-17F "Son" #42-5221, 427th Bomber Squadron, 303rd Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Nassau County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on August 13, 1942 at Fort Jay, Governors Island, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a mechanic and also as Single, without dependents.

Andrew was "Killed In Action" when his B-17 was hit by German aircraft and crashed into the Baltic Sea, near Lolland, Denmark during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
