Nahannie served as a Staff Sergeant & Left Waist Gunner on B-17 (#42-29838), 509th Bomber Squadron, 351st Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Norfolk County, Massachusetts prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 17, 1942 in Boston, Massachusetts. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

Nahannie was "Killed In Action" when his B-17, while on a mission to the Submarine Pens & Docks in St Nazaire, France, was shot down and crashed in France during the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
