Cpl. Earl M. Baker, husband of Mrs. Ruth Baker, Sweetwater, and son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Baker, Middletown, was killed in action Aug. 17 in France, his wife has been informed.

Cpl. Baker was born March 17, 1908 at Middletown.

He enlisted in the army air corps Sept. 17, 1942 and had served overseas 18 months. During this time, he had been in Africa, Sicily, England and France.

Mrs. Baker is the former Miss Ruth Ott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Ott of Sweetwater with whom she is making her home.

Besides his wife and parents, a brother, Ralph E. Baker, of Greenview; and a sister, Mrs. Earl Arnold, of Springfield, survive.
