Mary Kastler, 92, Dies Today; Rites Saturday
Mrs. Mary M. Kastler, 92, one of Elwood's oldest residents, died at 6:10 o'clock this morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. harry Keller, 1822 South F street. She had been in failing health the past several years, but only bedfast the last two weeks.
Born in New York, May 4, 1862, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Myer.
She was married on Feb. 3, 1879 to Henry Kastler. He died in 1919.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church and the Rosary Society.
She was the mother of nine children, five of whom are still living. She had resided on the same street for the past 70 years.
Survivors include four daughters and a son, Mrs. Ben Schuck, Mrs. Carl Cockran, Elwood, Mrs. William Clawson, Fort Wayne, Henry Kastler, McKeesport, Pa., and Mrs. Harry Keller, with whom she had made her home the past 35 years, twenty one grandchildren, thirty eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The body was taken to the York Memorial home and will be returned Thursday morning to the home of Mrs. Keller, where friends will be received. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's Catholic church. Rev. T.J. Hammes, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will be made in the Catholic cemetery, south of the city.
