Pfc George W. enlisted on 17 October 1942 and received his training at Camp Campbell, Kentucky, Camp Wheeler, Georgia, the Army Air Field at Charleston, South Carolina and was sent to parachute packing and jumping school at Fort Benning, Georgia where he graduated as a paratrooper in November 1944.
