"Minnie Adele (Nurnberg) Flaherty, daughter of Louis and Elma (Schermer Nurnberg, was born July 18, 1923 at Hoskins. Minnie grew up on a farm near Hoskins, where she attended school. After her mother died, Minnie left school to work in various places. Always a hard worker, Minnie was a butcher for Pilley's Cold Storage, worked for Henningson's Foods in Norfolk and was a nanny for the Hoover family. At this time, Minnie moved to Texas where her brother George was stationed, and worked in a restaurant. When George was transferred to an installation in South Carolina, Minnie worked in a shipyard during World War II. After her stint working on the east coast, Minnie returned to the Midwest where she met Dale Flaherty. The couple were married on Nov. 21, 1951, and were blessed with 3 children:" 1 son and 2 daughters.

"After moving to Norfolk, Minnie began doing sewing and upholstery work in addition to being a full-time mom, working for Bestt Decorators, J.C. Penny and Star Clothing. However, the one job that most people around Norfolk will be remember Minnie was her over 30 yeasr of dedicated service to Rave Pharmacy/Amy's Hallmark. After retiring in her early 70's, Minnie continued to call Norfolk her home until moving to Stanton in recent years, where she died Saturday, July 4, 2014, two weeks shy of what would have been her 91st birthday."

She was survived by her 2 daughters, 3 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a brother.
