One casualty has been reported from the Tri-Cities since last Thursday. The soldier had been previously reported missing in action a year ago and is now presumed to be dead.

SGT. E. C. NABE
Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Nabe of Madison have been officially notified by the War department of the death of their son, Sgt. E. C. Nabe, missing in action since May 27, 1944, in Europe.

Sgt. Nabe enlisted in the Army Air Corps in February, 1943, graduating from gunnery school at Laredo, Texas, and completing his course as aerial mechanic on a B-24 Liberator bomber at Keesler Field, Miss. He received advanced training at Tucson, Ariz.

His wife, Denise, lives in Ocean Springs, Miss. He has a daughter, Audrey Jean Nabe, residing in Granite City and a sister, Mrs. Dolores Ayers of Nameoki.

On 27 May 1944, the 458th went on a mission to Neundirchen, GER. During assembly over Cromer, ENG, two aircraft, Briney Marlin 42-95183 and 42-95159 collided. Resulting in 159 breaking in two and crashing into the North Sea. All ten members were killed. Briney Marlin lost about 10 feet of the starboard wing. Two crewman bailed out and were lost. But 2LT Lester Martin was able to make a safe landing at Horsham St. Faiths.

Sgt. Nabes remains were never recovered.
