Audrey Jean Manning, 70, St. Clair, departed this life Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, in Town and Country.

Mrs. Manning was born in Granite City, Ill., Jan. 9, 1940, the daughter of Edgar Charles Nabe and wife Audrey Edna, nee Kelley.

On Feb. 21, 1959, she was united in marriage to Roy Lee Manning and two children came to bless this union.

She is survived by her children, Kimberly Reed and husband Jerry and Dawn Williams and husband Jeffrey, all of St. Clair; her brother, Rex Bell, Cuba, Mo.; four grandchildren, Darren Reed and wife Tracy, Forsyth, Dustin Reed, St. Clair, Alana Owenby and husband Clinton, Marthasville, and U.S. Army Spec 4 Drew Fuller, Clarksville, Tenn.; four stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.

Mrs. Manning was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Audrey Nabe; her stepfather, Leroy Bell; and her husband, Roy Manning.

She was a Christian and was baptized as a teenager at Grubville Baptist Church. She was currently a member of First Baptist Church, St. Clair.

During her younger years, while living in St. Louis, she was employed as a secretary and had worked at Third Baptist Church and Midland Corporation, both in St. Louis.

It was after she moved to the St. Clair area in 1972 that she began caring for children in her home, retiring after 21 years of child care. She was a very patient and caring person and had cared for hundreds of children.

Mrs. Manning enjoyed many hobbies and interests during her life, including crocheting dolls, collecting Avon and going to yard sales. She always had a smile for everyone and hardly ever complained.

A kind and loving mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, great-aunt, cousin and treasured friend, she will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 22, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with the Rev. Dr. Phil Turner officiating.

Interment was in Midlawn Memorial Gardens, Union.

Memorials to First Baptist Church, St. Clair, are preferred.

The family was served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.
