Son of Mary Gothreau.

Eugene served as a Signalman, Second Class, U.S.S. Kidd (DD-661), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Berlin, Coos County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

The Kidd, while on picket duty off Okinawa with the U.S.S. Black, U.S.S. Bullard, and U.S.S. Chauncey, was crashed into by a Japanese kamikaze plane. 38 men were killed and 55 were wounded in this attack.

Eugene was "Killed In Action" in this attack during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Eugene was buried at sea.
