The Reverend H. Roy Phillippi Friday afternoon officiated at funeral rites for Mrs. William Salmon of Westmore, who passed away at her home there Wednesday as a result of heart disease. The funeral was held in the Congregational church at Westmore and interment made in the cemetery just outside the city.
Mrs. Salmon was the wife of Postmaster Salmon and was born in Warrington, England, July 29, 1861. Her maiden name was Jessy Banner. Her father, a rope maker by trade, had the distinction of working on the first Atlantic cable. He was for some time the mayor of the English city in which he lived.
Jessy Banner came to New York in 1866 and in 1899 was married to William Salmon. In 1904 she moved to Chicago and in 1908 she and her husband came to Westmore where they have since resided. To them was born one daughter, Blanche E. Salmon, who preceded her mother in death in November 1925. In addition to her husband she is survived by one sister, Mrs. D. R. Schonover of Tuxedo Park, New York, two nieces, Mrs. J. B. Lack of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mrs. S. B. Hull of Bogotta, New Jersey, a nephew, William Schonover of Tuxedo Park, and a step-daughter, Edna Salmon.
Mrs. Salmon was a member of a Congregational church in Brooklyn, N.Y. but later transferred her membership to the Westmore church where she was ever an active member. She was a devoted wife and mother, a faithful friend, and a sincere Christian.
