They headed west to Texas, possibly along with her parents. Their daughter Anna Ordella Alawine was born April 22, 1873 in Rich Hill, Bates County, Missouri, according to family records. James died about 1875, and Cynthia married Edwin B Polk August 23, 1877 in Clay County, Texas. They had one son, W E Polk, born about 1879 in Clay County. Edwin died sometime between 1880 and 1893.
Cynthia's daughter Anna married Jesse Elias Shaw December 13, 1893 in Shannon, Clay County, Texas, and Cynthia moved in with them the next day. She lived with them for 29 years, dying on their 29th wedding anniversary.
