During WW II Armondo and his brother Michael drove up to Montreal to join the Canadian Air Force, but were told that Americans could no longer join. Armondo was disqualified from the draft as 4F due to poor eyesight. He enlisted anyway, and was in Patton’s Third Army, 346th infantry regiment, 87th infantry division (golden acorn). He was killed in action during the Battle of the Bulge while attacking the town of Vesqueville Belgium. He is buried in the Luxembourg American Military Cemetery with General Patton.
