Augustus Arthur Cornwallis Fitzclarence was a son of the Hon. Henry Edward FitzClarence, and his wife, Mary Isabel Templer Parsons; grandson of Lord Augustus Fitzclarence and his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Catherine Gordon, a granddaughter of George Gordon, 9th Marquess of Huntly; and a great-grandson of William IV, King of Great Britain and Ireland, by his mistress, Dorothea Jordan. He was married on April 7, 1910 to Lady Susan Yorke (1881-1965), daughter of John Manners Yorke, 7th Earl of Hardwicke, and his wife, Edith Mary Oswald, by whom he had no children.
He served as a Captain, 2nd Battalion, Royal Fusiliers. He served with the C. I. V. in the South African Campaign and also served in Northern and Southern Nigeria. He was killed in action on June 28, 1915. He has no known grave. He is commemorated on the Helles War Memorial, on panel 37 to 41 or 328.
