Reuben is the son of Nathaniel and Elizabeth Skinner. He married Sarah King about 1756. Their migrated from NJ to PA in 1773, to help form the "Jersey Settlement".
Their children were: Mary, Nathaniel, James, Joseph, Nancy Ann, Samuel, Phoebe, Richard, and Reuben.
Reuben was a forgeman by trade. In 1796 Reuben moved to Fayette Co. and built a mill, known as Skinner's Mill Run (in the region of Indian Creek).
Sarah and her parents asked the church for letters of dismission and moved to Perry Co., OH in 1817, but Reuben stayed on in PA.
