Juda Catherine 'Kate' Wann was the daughter of Arnold M. Wann and Matilda Fry, daughter of Harvey Fry and Anna Cates. Kate was next to the oldest daughter of 13 children born to Arnold and Matilda, all born in Polk County, TN.

Kate was the 2nd wife of Porter Kimbrough, his first wife, Hannah Smith, having died in 1878 leaving two small children, Nora and Harry Thomas. The step children always had fond memories of what a loving, caring mother she was to them. Porter and Juda had seven children: William Brad, John Lee, Sallie Matilda (Weber), Callie Lillie, Eliza (Carlock McClellan), Lucy Mae (Stamper) and Nellie (Alford.) Most of the children grew up in the historic Hildebrand house on the Ocoee River.

Catherine's parents and several of her siblings are buried in Forest Hill Cemetery in Chattanooga.
