Robert served as a Technical Sergeant on B-24D "Pelly-Can" #41-23688, 319th Bomber Squadron, 90th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Fresno County, California prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on October 22, 1941, prior to the war, at the Presidio Of Monterey, California. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in construction and also as Single, without dependents.

B-24D #41-23688 was rammed by a Japanese fighter plane causing both of them to crash into the sea near Indonesia. The entire crew was lost.

Robert was declared "Missing In Action" on this mission during the war.

He was awarded the "Distinguished Flying Cross", Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Purple Heart.
