BERNARD BAUER DIED AT HIS
HOME YESTERDAY.

WAS ONE OF ELWOOD'S OLDEST CITI-
ZENS, COMING HERE IN '56

Bernard Bauer, one of Elwood's oldest
citizens, died at his home at South E
and 18th streets shortly after noon yes-
terday, age 68 years and one month.
He had been in failing health for almost
a year and his death was not unex-
pected.
The funeral services will be held at
St. Joseph''s church Monday morning
at 10 o'clock, and will be conducted by
Rev. Father Beigel. Interment will be
made in the Catholic cemetery south of
the city.
Mr. Bauer came to Elwood in 1856,
when the town was little more than a
wide place in the road, and was one of
our best known citizens. He leaves a
wife and several children to mourn his
demise.
