Minnie Lee Pattillo Taylor was the mother of former First Lady of the United States the late Lady Bird Johnson (nee Claudia Alta Taylor). She died subsequent to a miscarriage following a fall down a stairwell while pregnant when Lady Bird was only four years old.
Mrs. Taylor was a native of Alabama and was brought to Karnack, Texas by her husband Thomas Jefferson Taylor. Mr. Taylor eventually owned a small general store and 15,000 acres of cotton. He and Mrs. Taylor lived in "The Brick House" located about 2.7 miles south of Karnack on what is now TX Highway 43. That home was the birthplace of Lady Bird Johnson.
