Thomas Titterington, a former well known citizen of the east end of Mills County, but who has been a resident of Sutherland, Nebraska, the past fifteen years was instantly killed last Monday.
Mr. Titterington had recently closed out his property holdings near Sutherland and had planned in the near future to go to Florida to spend the winter. He was visiting at the home of his son-in-law, William Cox, and was standing near where the men were stacking hay. They were using a stacker, and it in some way broke from its mooring and fell upon Mr. Titterington. A part of the stacker struck him on the head, killing him instantly.
Mr. Titterington was about 76 years old and lived in Mills County, northeast of Emerson, for a great many years and owned one of the best improved farms of that vicinity.
Mrs. Titterington died about three years ago and lies buried in the Emerson Cemetery.
Mr. Titterington leaves for children and their families to mourn his death. The children are Jay and Delmar Titterington and Mrs. William Cox, who live in the vicinity of Sutherland, Nebraska, and Mrs. George Galbraith of Ohiowa, Nebraska. All were in attendance at the funeral.
The funeral was held at the M. E. Church in Sutherland on Wednesday and the body arrived in Emerson on Thursday for burial in the Emerson Cemetery.
Mr. Titterington was a man of character and a first class neighbor.
