Lewis Westfall was the son of John and Abagail Johnson Overholtes/Overholtz. According to the Johnson Family Bible Lewis and his sister Phoebe were raised by John's brothers at both parents' death in 1834 a month apart. First they were raised by Joseph and wife Hannah Kinsey and then at Joseph's death, Daniel Kailor Overholtz and wife Diana Westfall. Lewis moved from Preble, Ohio to Norborne, Missouri around 1855. He was a Civil War veteran and married Nancy J Frum Overholtz Knowles. Nancy Frum and Lewis Westfall had a son, Francis Marion Overholtz. Lewis was a farmer.
