Mrs Carl J Carlson was born October 15,1880 in Franconia Township, the daughter of Charles Hawkinson and his wife Hilda (Trulson). She was given the name Jennie Olivia and at nine days of age was baptized, on October 24, 1880. At the age of fifteen, she was confirmed May 19, 1895, in the class of Pastor J F Seedoff and has been a member of Chisago Lake Lutheran Church, Center City all her life.

She attended school at Long Lake and lived at home until the time of her marriage. It was on September 21, 1912, that Jennie Hawkinson became the bride of Carl J Carlson of Chisago Lake Township. The couple moved at once to the farm south of Shafer where their home remained until 1961 when Mr and Mrs Carl Carlson became guests at the Green Acres Rest Home, North Branch, MN.

At the lovely home farm in a quiet dell south of Shafer, five sons were given to this union, all of whom survive the death of their mother.

Last year the Carl Carlson's had the wonderful joy of celebrating their Golden Anniversary.

On September 3, 1963, Mrs Carlson was entered as a patient at Chisago Lakes Hospital, Chisago City, where on Saturday September 14, 1963, she came to the end of her earthly life, having reached the age of 82 years, 10 months and 29 days.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, who died in infancy, one brother, Clarence of Chisago and one sister, Hanna, who was Mrs William Holm of Center City.

Mrs Carlson is survived by her husband Mr Carl J Carlson of North Branch, by five sons, Raymond of Shafer, Wendell of Cushing, Willard of Shafer, Vincent of Scandia and James of Shafer. The four Hawkinson brothers who survive her are Henry of Chicago, Arthur of Chisago City, Furman of Lindstrom and Leonard of Shafer. Sixteen grandchildren miss "Grandma" and many nieces and nephews will remember "Aunt Jennie" One uncle, Jacob Hawkinson lives in British Columbia, Canada.

Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Center City, MN.

Funeral services were conducted from the Chisago Lake Lutheran church, Center City, Minnesota on Tuesday afternoon September 17 with Pastor Burdett Benson officiating. Mrs Hazel Tkach organist, Mrs Edmund Jonason, soloist. Pallbearers were: Carl Holm, Carl Carlson, Algot Carlson, Chester Carlson, Elliott Hawkinson and Everett Hawkinson
