Warren — Devon R. Stewart, 16, died while swimming in Lake Megunticook in Lincolnville, Friday, July 23, 2010.
Born in Rockport, Dec. 12, 1993, he was the son of Robert H. and Katina M. (Rackliff) Stewart. Growing up in the Midcoast, Devon would have entered the junior class of South Portland High School this fall.
Recently Devon split his time between his mother's home in South Portland and his father's home here. His trips between homes were never made alone, as his car was always filled with friends. He recently called his mom to ask if he could bring yet another friend home and jokingly told her, "Now you have 68 kids, Mom!"
Devon enjoyed a special relationship with his uncle, Jarod Rackliff, and cousin Dylan Rackliff of Rockland, with whom he often rode dirt-bikes and four-wheelers.
Other than his mother, Tina, of South Portland, and his father, Bobby, of Warren, Devon is survived by a sister, Heather L. Hersom, her husband, Steve, and their children, Hailey and Audrey, all of Goffstown, N.H.; two brothers, Robert A. Stewart of Rockland and Christian J. Ames of Matinicus; his paternal grandmother, Maxine Stewart, of Waldoboro; maternal grandparents Diane and Bill Widdecombe of Warren and Ernie and Priscilla Rackliff of Ocean Port, N.J.; and his godparents, Donna and Martin Ward of Rockport.
Interment will be in Leonard Cemetery, Patterson Mill Road, Warren. (Republican Journal 7/27/2010)
