ACCIDENT KILLS DELLWOOD MAN
TRUCK HURTLES OFF HIGHWAY, CRASHES INTO TREE; ADAMS COUNTY'S FIRST TRAFFIC DEATH OF 1938.
Friendship, Wis.--Ole Stormoen, 61, of Dellwood, town of Strongs Prairie, Adams county, was apparently instantly killed Wednesday night about 7 o'clock when the truck in which he was riding left the highway near here and crashed into a tree.
Driver Is Injured
Driver of the truck, Bennie Sparby, Arkdale, suffered fractures of three ribs and head lacerations in the mishap and is in the Adams-Friendship hospital. He is expected to recover. The death of the Dellwood man was Adams county's first traffic fatality of 1938.
The two men were on their way home when the truck hurtled off Highway 13 about one-half mile north of Friendship. It struck the tree head-on and was virtually demolished. Mr. Stormoen was dead before his body could be extricated from the wreckage. Adams county authorities indicated they would hold no inquest.
Funeral Saturday
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p. m., February 26, from the Dellwood Lutheran church. The Rev. Mr. Davies of Wisconsin Dells will officiate and burial will be made in the West [correction South] Arkdale cemetery.
Mr. Stormoen was born in Norway March 13, 1876. He came to America when a child. His marriage to Sine Hansen took place on March 13, 1906. The family have been residents of Adams county for a number of years.
The widow and 13 children, all but one at home, survive. A sister living in Missouri also survives.
