Adella Dene Hiatt Peterson

1927 ~ 2009

Adella Dene Hiatt Peterson returned to her loving Heavenly Father, November 9, 2009.

Adella was the fifth of six girls born to Franklin Sylvester and Mary Ethel Tanner Hiatt, August 24, 1927 in Payson, Utah.

She grew up on the West Mountain, graduated from Payson High School and was then employed by the phone company.

She married Oran Llewellyn Peterson, November 4, 1948.

The marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple.

Soon after marriage, they moved to Southern California for work where they raised their family and lived for 30 years until returning to Utah.

In addition to raising her family, Adella served in various capacities such as Den Mother, Ward Librarian, Primary President, PTA President and Temple Worker.

She found pleasure in solving puzzles, listening to music, traveling and homemaking. Her greatest joys came from supporting her husband, raising her children and staying connected with cherished family and friends.

Adella is survived by her children: Alan (Linda) Peterson, La Mesa, CA; Patricia (Steven) Hegji, Lehi, UT; Mary (Boyd) Bingham, Honeyville, UT; Nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters Betty (Lawrence) Mower, Payson, UT and Blanche Hull, Whitney, ID.

She is preceeded in death by her husband, one grandson, Peter Hegji, three sisters Afton DeWitt, Madge Ransbottom, June Davis, three half-brothers, Delphin, Randall and Ferron Hiatt.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009, 11:00 a.m., at Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, where friends may call 10-10:45 a.m.

Burial will be in the Santaquin City Cemetery.
