Barbara Ringer, was born in Paul's Valley, Ok. on March 21, 1911, the oldest of the four children of Frank O. Ringer and Anna Maude Swank Ringer. She died at home on January 23, 1992, surrounded by her family. She was married in 1933 to James Clare Hamill and lived with him happily until his death in 1972. They had two children, Anne Dorow Gary of Denison, Texas, and James C. Hamill, Jr. of Washington, D.C. During her life Barbara devoted herself to her family and her many friends, but in her later years she was active in civic affairs. She was a member of the Board of Directors of her alma mater, Lindenwood College of St. Charles, Missouri and, previous to that, was National President of the Lindenwood Alumnae Society. She also served on the board of the Goodwill Industries and Youth Services of Oklahoma County. In addition to these leadership activities, she was a member of the Oklahoma Bar Auxiliary, the Colonel John Starke Sr. Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the Americ an Revolution, the Green Thumb Garden Club and was a charter member of the Connoisseur Club since 1956. Mrs. Hamill is survived by her two children and three grandchildren, James Daniel Gary of Lexington, Virginia, Louanne Gary of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Raymond Jerdy Gary, Jr. of Plano, Texas. She has one great grandchild, Clare Noel Gary; her sisters, Margaret Ringer Howell and Dorothy Ringer Paul both of OKC. Her brother, John F. Ringer preceded her in death in 1990.
