Services for Velvia Mae Watts, 88, of Temple will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple with the Rev. Lillian Hinds and the Rev. Judy Gotcher officiating.

Burial will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.

Mrs. Watts died Wednesday, July 28, in a local hospital.

She was born on Oct. 2, 1921, to William Fred and Essie Irene Cowling Brinkman in Olustee, Okla. She graduated from high school in Prairie Hill, Okla. On June 8, 1957, she married Richard L. "Dick" Watts. She had lived in Altus, Okla., Abilene and Sherman before moving to Temple in October 1973. She worked more than 30 years in sales and clerical work. She was a member of Meadow Oaks Baptist Church. She was secretary of Renegades Bowling League for 17 years and served as president of NCO Wives Club in Taichung, Taiwan. She was also a member of Temple Garden Club, American Legion Post No. 133 Auxiliary, WIBC and Temple Bowling Association. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Corina Berrong and two grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of Temple; two daughters, Gereta Murphy of Altus, Okla., and Patsy Esralian of Sherman; a brother, Edward Brinkman of Corpus Christi; a sister, Ophelia Street of Altus; eight grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 6:30-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
