Memorial created by DMLeForce July 2010 with contributions by Shoshana (#47813956); transferred to great grandson G. Euel Coats August 2015.

Samuel Harlan Curtis was the son of Zach Curtis and Elizabeth King.

As an adult, Samuel is first found in census (1870) in Edmonson County, KY, married (Minerva Ann Rachel "Mar" Sanders) with 5 of their 11 children. Sometime between 1870 and 1872 he and his family had moved to Barren County, KY.

Samuel and Mar outlived 5 (Angie, Robert, Clara, Catherine, and Elizabeth) of their 11 children; 6 of 11 children (Angie, Robert, Clara, Catherine, Lula, Lewis) are known to be buried in Little Hope Cemetery in Mammoth Cave National Park. It is believed that their daughter Elizabeth and her husband John A. Jenkins are also buried in Little Hope Cemetery although that has not been confirmed, in either case, by death certificates or other documentation. Daughter Sarah Rachel "Sallie" is buried in Campground Cemetery, Barren County, KY while son Edward is buried in Smiths Grove Cemetery, Warren County, KY and son George is buried in TX.
