LORIS - Effie Hardee Harrelson, 96, of the Mount Zion community, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at Conway Nursing Center after an illness.
She was born April 19, 1905, in Loris, a daughter of the late Joseph and Carrie Bullard Hardee. She was the widow of Ulysses Scarborough Harrelson
After her husband passed away in 1956, she worked in sales of ladies apparel for 25 years. After that, she worked until she was 77 years old. Since retiring, she was very involved with family and church activities.
Survivors include a son, Benjamin P. Harrelson and his wife, Isla Mae, of Loris; a daughter, Sibyl Faye Todd of Newport News, Va.; a sister, Ernestine Hardee of Charleston; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two daughters, Genevieve Macon Floyd and Nancy Carolyn Horne.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hardwick Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Zion Baptist Church. The Revs. Timothy Fowler, David Watts, Doyce Norris and Stirling Sarvis will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
