Her parentage still needs to be determined, each of the censuses on which she was found noted that she was born in Illinois, and that her parents were from Ireland

She married Reuben N Reese in 1895, but it does not appear that she and Reuben ever got a divorce.

It initially appeared that she had one son from her previous marriage, George R Duvall [although recent information discovered about him suggests that his parents were Samuel and Anna "Hoffman" Duvall - this needs further research]. A Dr Geo R Duvall was listed in the 1905 St Joseph City Directory at the 1615 Highly address. [George Duvall would marry a Grace Melville Bliss (B. 1875, Indiana) in 1906, both have been found in various censuses in living various counties in Nebraska - unique for the time, "both listed as doctors". They apparently adopted a daughter, Helen Victoria (B. 1921, D. 1999). The 1940 census showed that Grace had died....records still need to be found on her death [between 1937-1939] and that of George, although he did remarry in 1944 to Myrtle D. "Freeborn" Pejsar [she died in 1947]. His adopted daughter, Helen, appeared to have married several times and research suggest that she had moved to the Las Vegas area in the early 1950's. GK 7/28/2018]

She also had a daughter with Reuben Reese, Josephine Catherine, born November 1895. [It appears that Josephine Catherine lived with James H Gaar during the late 1910's - they are listed as a couple in several City Directories in Missouri and Kansas - and she eventually married him in 1923, but the marriage did not last, Gaar is listed with sister in 1930 census as single and remarried during the 1930's. It appears that she remarried as well, although no records have been found. She was found listed in the California Death Record as Josephine Catherine Arnold, her mother's maiden name and the birth info matched. She was found on several Long Beach California city directories from 1945 thru 1960's. Veteran Affairs records list her being buried next to John Arthur Arnold 1895-1955 in San Diego. GK 2/28/15]

Emma was a patient at State Hospital #2 in St Joseph, Mo for 43 years.

The cemetery apparently was not maintained by the state and the state may have ordered all tombstones to be knocked down [buried] to make it easier to mow.
