Eliza Eichelberger Ridgely was the daughter of Johann Martin Eichelberger and Elizabeth Welsh Eichelberger. She was born on December 6, 1783 at Baltimore, Maryland. On July 30, 1801, she married Nicholas Greenberry Ridgely. She died on February 10, 1803 at the age of 19 years, 2 months just hours after her daughter, Eliza Eichelberger Ridgely was born. Her daughter, Eliza was immortalized in the 1818 portrait Lady with a Harp by Thomas Sully.
