Funeral services will be Monday, July 26, at 11 a.m. at Ottawa First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. David Alderson, her son, officiating. Burial will be at Peru City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are through the Mueller Funeral Home in Peru.
Mary was born Nov. 23, 1924, in Galesburg, to Robert C. and Lillian (Clark) Stewart. She married John E. Alderson on Oct. 18, 1947, in Galesburg.
She was a member of Harvest Community Church of the Nazarene in Peru and the Christian Women's Club of La Salle County.
She is survived by her husband, John Alderson of Peru; three sons, the Rev. David (Patti) Alderson of Ottawa, Tim (Kathy) Alderson of Lake Zurich and Sam (Joslyn) Alderson of Vancouver, British Columbia; one daughter, Sherry (Ronald) Curran of Rogers, Conn.; four brothers, Everett (Alice) Stewart, Gene Stewart, Paul (Dorothy) Stewart and David Stewart, all of Galesburg; one sister, Margaret Hendricks of North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ed Stewart.
Pallbearers will be Dan Lee, Travis McEowen, Ron Curran, Jeremy Alderson, Gene Ryone, Joe Maurer and Joshua Broughton.
Memorials may be directed to Heritage Manor in Peru or Harvest Community Church of the Nazarene.
