She raised her children and performed the many tasks alloted to a farmer's wife:milking the cows,caring for poultry, gardening and canning, and cooking for her large fanily and the field hands, yet she found the time to write poetry and inspirational songs. All who knew her remarked on her eveness of temper and calm demeanor. She is buried at Central Cemetery next to her husband Lawrence Thurston Patton. She was the Mother of 10 Children: Everett, Garcia, Monav, Cecil, Corena, Shelba, Ethna, Billy, Donnie and Margaret.
