Mrs. Mattie Lee Simmons Lee, the daughter of the late Albert Simmons and Mrs. Lula McCoy Simmons, was born on January 24, 1910, in Attala County, MS.
At an early age, she united with the Mt. Canna M. B. Church where she served faithfully.
She married Mr. Robert Lee. To this union, four children were born. One child preceded her in death.
She departed this life on January 14, 1985, at her home.
She leaves to mourn her passing one daughter, Mrs. Eljean Wade of South Bend, IN; two sons, Mr. T. D. Lee of Milwaukee, WI; Mr. A. D. Lee of Cleveland, OH; two sisters, Mrs. Eartha McAdory of Kosciusko, MS; Mrs. Mavis McMillon of Milwaukee, WI; five brothers; Mr. Fred Simmons, Mr. Marvin Simmons of Kosciusko, MS; Mr. Ned Simmons of Chicago, IL; Mr. James Simmons and Mr. Matthew Simmons of Milwaukee, WI; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
